Planning the Perfect Hen Do

There are lots of different things you can do to celebrate a hen party. No longer simply referred to as a hen ‘night’, these events can go on all day, all weekend, or even over longer breaks such as a week or two abroad. Hen do ideas are no longer restricted to an evening in a wine bar, but can include things like a day out at the races, a spa day, a session in a recording studio, paintballing, and any other number of fun activities. Whatever you decide on, however, here’s some hen DOs, and some hen DON’Ts too!

* Organise as much as possible in advance. This includes getting any hen party fancy dress outfits fully organised (especially if you are having these personalised – coming up with the text may take you a while!), sorting out transport, booking yourselves onto the activity if there is likely to be a limited amount of places, and of course checking that everyone’s free on the day.

* On the day/night/weekend/week itself, make sure someone is looking after the bride-to-be at all times. The chances are she may get a little too tired and emotional (in all senses of the words!) and need some physical or emotional support.

* Don’t forget to organise the transport home. No one wants to end their hen do by waiting around for ages in the cold and the rain (which, let’s face it, can occur at any time of year) to try and get home. Try and agree with everyone on what would be a suitable time for leaving.
